Head of Algorithms
Elop Division at Elbit Systems - a global leader in electro-optic systems development - is seeking a highly experienced Head of Algorithms to lead our AI and Computer Vision technology roadmap
This is a unique opportunity to head a group of around 20 exceptional developers and researchers, divided into three teams, and define the technological vision shaping next-generation electro optical systems - from spaceborne sensors and long range observation to advanced missile defense solutions
We are looking for a hands-on leader - someone who lives and breathes technology, can take state of the art AI and turn it into operational real time products running on Edge hardware
A technological visionary who feels comfortable writing and reviewing code, while also shaping long term strategy and steering the company’s algorithmic direction for years to come
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Management
Lead and manage three team leads, overseeing a group of ~20 algorithm developers
Set priorities, drive technical excellence, and mentor both engineers and team leaders
Foster a culture of innovation and technological excellence
Technology Strategy
Define and execute the company’s roadmap in Computer Vision and AI
Choose technologies, architectures, and tools that directly impact real time operational systems
Combine cutting edge AI research with applied engineering in complex systems
Business Partnership
Collaborate closely with R&D project managers and business units to design breakthrough algorithmic and AI based solutions
Influence system level decisions - from conceptual vision to proof of concept deployment in the field
Requirements (Must Have)
At least 10 years of hands on experience developing Computer Vision algorithms, with a strong focus on Deep Learning / Machine Learning
Proven expertise in designing and architecting AI based solutions
5+ years leading algorithm development teams (experience managing team leads or larger groups - a significant advantage)
Familiarity with publications, methodologies, and state of the art advances in AI and Computer Vision
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields from a recognized institution
Excellent proficiency in Python and major development frameworks (PyTorch / TensorFlow / OpenCV)
Advantageous Qualifications
Proven experience deploying algorithmic solutions on Edge hardware, and optimization methods
Proficiency in C++ and Linux environments
Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and data management pipelines for model training
Demonstrated ability to bridge algorithmic work with hardware, optics, and system constraints
Strong spirit of innovation, technological curiosity, and ability to influence broad strategic vision
